Para cerrar el año, y después de editar dos singles ("Good Days" y "Como las Flores al Sol"), Madbil nos traen un regalo de Navidad muy especial. Una nueva colaboración de Pablo Ruigómez con Geoff Smith, (quien fuera vocalista, guitarra y compositor de The Palace Of Light y Mabel Joy) y Jacky Garratt (cantautora amiga de Smith, ubicada en Penzance, Cornwall) y que tan buenos resultados dio con “Good Days”. Esta vez nos presentan una deliciosa canción navideña compuesta por los tres y que Geoff Smith canta con su habitual y exquisita contención. Apelando al auténtico espíritu Navideño, nos atrevemos a decir que "Christmas Of The Heart" es ya un pequeño clásico del género. Junto a la versión con banda al completo, y como cara B, nos encontramos con una intimista versión acústica.

After their succesfull collaboration for the "Good Days" single/EP, Pablo Ruigómez, Geoff Smith (former vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for The Palace Of Light and Mabel Joy) and Jacky Garratt (a singer songwriter friend of Smith, based in Penzance, Cornwall) have got together again to create a truly delightful Christmas song. “Christmas Of The Heart" is their second  joint songwriting effort. Geoff Smith sings it with his usual exquisite restraint, succesfully conjuring up the true Christmas spirit. We do believe it's a bona fide Yule classic and we hope you enjoy it. The B-side features an intimate acoustic version.

Released in March 1968, and included here, "I Can't Let Maggie Go" became the third Honeybus single and the one which would ensure their place in the history books. The single hit number 8 in the UK and became a huge hit worldwide. And still Honeybus remain a unique group in so many ways. Their legacy has become cherished more and more, its quiet majesty singling them out from the few contemporaries they had. While plaudits for the group’s sole Deram album, 1970’s exemplary Story continue to roll in as fresh generations of pop connoisseurs discover its charms, and the group’s subsequent ill-starred excursions into the studio in the early ’70s (the long lost Recital album and the rarities companion volume For Where Have You Been: The Lost Tracks, released by Hanky Panky /Mapache in 2018) simply add further depth and kudos to their already Godlike status, their run of half a dozen 45s has been side-lined somewhat. Now for the first time ever the 12 sides released on Deram by the Mk I and Mk II line-ups of the group between 1967 and 1970 have been sourced from the master tapes, assembled in chronological order and presented in album fashion. Publicado en marzo de 1968, e incluido aquí, "I Can't Let Maggie Go" fue el tercer sencillo de Honeybus y el que les aseguraría su lugar en los libros de historia. El single alcanzó el puesto número 8 en las listas del Reino Unido y se convirtió en un gran éxito mundial. Y aún así Honeybus sigue siendo, por muchas razones, un grupo único: su legado es apreciado cada vez más y su tranquila majestad les distingue claramente de sus contemporáneos. Mientas que las nuevas generaciones que descubren sus encantos elogian el único disco que publicaron para Deram en 1970, y las malogradas grabaciones en estudio de primeros de los años 70 (el álbum perdido Recital y la colección de rarezas For Where Have You Been: The Lost Tracks, editadas por Hanky Panky /Mapache en 2018) añaden mayor peso y prestigio a su ya de por si elevado status, su media docena de sencillos ha quedado un poco olvidada. Tras la edición en abril de 2018 del álbum debut "Magia Con Precisión" (“doce canciones que atesoran esencia y solera”, César Prieto en Efeme), y más recientemente del EP "Good Days" (la colaboración internacional con Jacky Garratt y Geoff Smith, de Palace Of Light y Mabel Joy), Madbil presentan un nuevo single con voz femenina al frente: la de María Ruigómez, colaboradora habitual del grupo, en una canción de melodía arrebatada, una maravillosa mezcla del clásico sonido de "grupos de chicas" de los 60 con el pop más reivindicable de los 80.

MADBIL es un proyecto formado por el bilbaíno Pablo Ruigómez y el madrileño Javier Martínez (Superpez, The Secret Society, Cuarto Oscuro, Urbasón), con las colaboraciones habituales de María Ruigómez y de Kike Mora, y en esta ocasión de nuevo, David T. Ginzo (Tuya).

*** The Undercliff Suite comprises five short instrumental pieces composed as incidental music for Mark Brend’s debut novel, Undercliff.

*** Brend formed farina with former Palace of Light / Mabel Joy bandmate Matt Gale and drummer/horn player Cliff Glanfield in 1995. Originally active until 2005, fariña released two acclaimed albums on Picked Egg. The Undercliff Suite is their first release since reconvening in 2018.

Mark Brend –autoharp, bass, dulcimer, found sounds, glockenspiel ,guitar, keyboards, melodica, percussion, and ukulele.

Matt Gale –accordion, guitar, harmonica, keyboards, mandolin and piano.

The Undercliff Suite was recorded in Devon, London and Banstead, and mixed and mastered at Hummingbird Studios, London.
